[resolved] CSS help for making changes to Spun (10 posts)

    I've been reading every tutorial I can find and attempting to make changes to the css for my site to try to accomplish two things, but haven't had any success at getting the results I'm looking for!

    1-convert my menu bar from text to images.
    i've resized all the pngs to what seems to be the right size from all I've read, uploaded them to the wp-admin/images area in filezilla, and changed the coding exactly as the tutorials have shown and I still can't get the images to show up.

    2-add new fonts for the header and post titles
    once again, followed tutorials, copied css changes (inserting my info where needed) and even though it changes the font, it doesn't appear to be changing it to the exact font I selected off google fonts.

    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...I've been at this for days with no luck. If anyone is willing, I will share my site and css changes I've made.

    (I have a child theme set up that I'm working in and also have installed the custom css manager plugin.)

  2. Hey.

    1. You appear to have removed the code you used to attempt this from your site at http://www.enjoyingeverafter.com/. It's hard to troubleshoot your problem without knowing what you were attempting to do. Could you please try including your CSS changes again or link to the tutorial you followed for this?

    2. You could try using a plugin to include Google fonts: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-google-fonts/

    Thank you! Here's the tutorial I used:

    http://nathaningram.com/tutorials/easy-social-icons-in-the-wordpress-navigation-menu/

    And here's my attempt at the css (I put it in the css manager)

    .menu-instagram {
    text-indent: -9999px;
    background-image: url(http://enjoyingeverafter.com/wp-admin/images/navibutton_c28x28.png) !important;
    background-repeat: no-repeat !important;
    margin-left: 100px !important;
    width: 50px;
    }

    I will try that plugin you suggested for the fonts. Thanks again!

  4. Hey. Sorry for my delay in getting back to you!

    Firstly, I just looked at your site again and the CSS you put in your post doesn't seem to be being picked up.

    Is it still in your CSS manager? If so, there's a problem with this plugin.

    No problem! Thanks for the suggestion on the google font plugin; it helped!

    I went back in and took out the css I posted above because it was just messing up the menu bar alignment. Any suggestions on coding that would actually replace the text with the image?

    Thanks again for your help!

  6. Ok, try this approach:

    .menu-instagram a{
    background: url('http://enjoyingeverafter.com/wp-admin/images/navibutton_c28x28.png') top;
    width: 28px;
    height: 0;
    overflow: hidden;
    padding-top: 28px;
    }

    Change the width and padding-top values to the width and height of your image. Please leave the value of the height property as 0.

    You may also have noticed that I targeted the .menu-instagram a as opposed to just .menu-instagram - this should mean that the image is now clickable too.

    Let me know if this works! *fingers crossed*

    Ok, it's getting there! spacing seems right now, and if I click that area it takes me to instagram, BUT the image isn't showing up??

    (Honestly, can't say thank you enough for helping with this!!)

  8. The link to your image (http://enjoyingeverafter.com/wp-admin/images/navibutton_c28x28.png) isn't working. Replace this with the right path to your image and it should work!

  10. Ah, glad it worked! Your menu's looking good now, really like those icons. :)
