CSS for sticky post to be wider?

Ive started trying to suss this out myself, but in case anyone’s already done it: anyone figured the CSS to make a sticky post render all the way across the blog posts content area, and then the rest of the posts as normal?

ETA: I ask because if I just go and make article.sticky wider, all of the other posts start rendering in a single column down the left, and no longer float into their intended layout.
