I have a city website, and several sub-websites for each neighborhood in the city. Is there a way to hack a forum (bbpress?) so that each post int he neighbourhood website forum will be displayed in the top level city website (think craigslist)? Can I program the city forum to pull all the posts from the different sites?

I was told by a friend that I can use tags, and program the city forum to display all the posts. Does anyone have any experience with this? I think this would only work for blog posts.

I understand users will be able to log into each website with one account, using multisite. They don't even have to be seperate domains... I could make them sub-domains.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I've even asked wordpress proffesionals locally, and after paying $250 to one (I fully explained what I wanted, and confirmed three times), he installed BBpress on one site, and then told me what i wanted couldn't be done. A little miffed since I could have done that myself for free!!

I have programming experience, and would be happy to code myself...would just like some guidance.

They may have meant this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/

Which yeah, only works for blog posts.

But ... BuddyPress may do what you want.
