[resolved] Cropped image saves with wrong name (3 posts)

    Hello

When I crop a thumbnail and save it, it saves to the correct upload folder in WP but gives the file a name like image1-150x150-283746387.jpg, having deleted the original image1-150x150.jpg

The random number on the end means that where this image is used in posts, it can't be found. All I can do therefore is to click 'regenerate thumbnails' so a image1-150x150.jpg is recreated, but it is not cropped how I wanted it, it is done with WP's default crop instead.

How can I fix this please?
    Thanks

    You have 2 options:

    1. Unset the cache buster option (see http://sewpafly.github.io/post-thumbnail-editor/editor/#toc_7)
    2. Reference your post-thumbnails in your posts using a plugin like this one: http://wordpress.org/plugins/post-thumbnail-extras/. I wrote that one too, it essentially lets you put a shortcode in your post (something like [pt id=<yourimageid>]) and your post thumbnail is updated no matter what happens to the physical thumbnail on disk. I really like this feature, because if you ever change your theme and want to quickly change the size of your thumbnails you just have to do this in the wordpress backend and VOILA, it changes all your posts.

Hopefully this helps, let me know if need anything else.

    Thanks very much!
Yes - it was the cache-buster which was causing it. So now it creates the edited thumbnail with the same file as the previous one.

I'm interested in your further suggestion for the thumbnail-extras but don't immediately have a use for it. May well do in the near future though!
