Creating pages and posts using copying and pasting does not work! (6 posts)

I have a very perplexing problem. That is defying an easy answer. My problem occurs when I attempt to copy and paste anything into the post or page editor of WordPress. The situation arises every time I save or attempt to preview an item that has been copied into the text editor from any document.

I like to create my post and pages in Word and then copy and paste them into WordPress. This works well on my other WP site but not this new install. I have used text editors to strip out formatting. I have also used the text editor copy and paste feature within WordPress but nothing works.

Here’s some background. I first installed WordPress through Bluehost. But that's when I discovered the problem. I then reinstalled WP through BlueHost. This did nothing to resolve the issue. I then downloaded WordPress and uploaded it to BlueHost.

I tried using the 20/10 theme. Then I tried using the Genesis Framework theme. I also tried using the Genesis Framework with the Prose child theme. The problem would occur each and every time.

I should note here that all plugins are turned off while attempting to create a post.

Now, if I manually type in the post through the WordPress everything works well as it should.

I also should note that the text that appears in the text box only fills up about 65% of the box from left to right. It does not extend completely to the right side of the box before it text wraps to a new line. It makes no difference if I manually type in the text or copy into the text box.

I have been working on this problem for about a week and could use any help available.

Prose (Genesis) theme do not have any such problems. I am using it on three of my blogs with 3.4. I feel the problem can related to any of the plugins. You can try deactivating the plugins one by one and activating them one by one, while creating posts in between. If it does not solve the problem, try with a different permalink.

Can you post your URL here so that the exact problem can be located?

    Hi Krishna,

Well, I don't have the problem as you stated using 3.4 on my other website either. I didn't provide a url to the site as it is under construction and the problem is not visible to the public. Publishing an incomplete post didn't make sense to me. Currently, it has only one 1 post displaying which I manually entered into the text editor and saved without any problems.

I have reinstalled WP through my web host and using the download option. Still the problem still exists.

This only occurs when I try copy and pasting text. I have tried 3 different themes that had all plugins turned off. I even tried this with no plugins being added to the site. I have used a notepad to strip out formatting and this does not work either.

The current site that I am using currently is using WP 3.4 and the 20/10 theme. The problem occurs when I go to save or preview a post or page. No matter how long the post is about 60% of the text gets removed.

I tried to change the permalinks from post to custom /%postname%/ and this didn't work. After I hit save it went back to post and it didn't save this change.

Here is an example of what happens. This is the text as entered into the text box.

This is what is left after I preview or save the doc.

I hope someone can assists me with this as it's driving me crazy!

Without actually seeing the problem, how will someone guide you? That is why I asked you to post your site URL. If it is one your computer post it on a test site and post the URL. After the problem is resolved, you can delete it from there.

I have also used the text editor copy and paste feature within WordPress but nothing works.

Are you referring to the paste from Word feature?

Any way that one can copy and paste a document into WP I tried and nothing works. The only way I can create a post that doesn't get truncated is to type it manually into WP. I don't like doing this because the grammar doesn't get corrected and that's not my strengths.

If I copy from a Word Doc this happens.
If I copy something from another website this happens.
If I use Notepad this happens.
If I use the copy from Word feature in WP this happens.

    Krishna

The site is live even though it only has one post that is why I gave the examples that I used previously in comments. This is not a test site.
