   I installed the blog on a directory on my site named blog.
   To access the blog page, i create a link http://mysite.com/blog.
   How do I link to the other pages on my site from the blog pages,
   e.g to link to mysite.com/contactus.php - how do i include a kind
   of top navigation that will link to all my non-blog pages, and that will
   appear in all the blog pages.

   There's probably a plug-in that will help you with this. If not, you could build it into your theme.
