Hi Gavin,
To use the gallery post format:
1. Go to Admin > Posts > Add New.
2. Select the “Gallery” post format in the Post Attributes box.
3. Click “Add Media” and upload the images you wish to display in the gallery.
4. Close the Media window and publish/update the post.
If you follow the steps above, the images should be displayed in a slider above the post.

There obviously is something I’m doing wrong here since the images ends up within the post AS WELL.
– If I use the “Create Gallery” feature in the Insert Media box the images ends up within the post.
– If I don’t use the “Create Gallery” feature, rather just select the images from the media library, they ALSO ends up within the post.
What am I missing?
Could someone please provide a step by step guide (for dummies) how to create an image gallery in an existing post, without the images ending up within the post.
Please.
Hi what i do is new post, Gallery format clicked, Then i upload the pictures all at once. You see the progress bar as they all upload? Then dont click insert to post just click the x at the top right to remove the media box that popped up.. Now once you write your post and published your images will be in a slider at the top and not inside the post..
like so .. http://gracemoments.co.uk/personal/test/
Always upload and always click the x to remove the box//
Not insert to post.
Try a test post you should see them once published..
Ah, thanks. That’s the trick. Don’t touch the “insert into post” button. 🙂
Hi all,
I’ve tried a test post according your advice and this doesn’t work with pictures being already uploaded in my library. It works only with new uploads.
Second issue is that when we’d like to change anything within the gallery (like the order of the pictures or their title), we can’t get back to the gallery. We always need to create a new one, with new uploaded pictures, isn’t it?
Thanks for your help.
