Go to Appearance/Menus. Create and name a top or bottom menu (Eidt Menus / create a new menu). Select the relevant Page in the left hand side and click ‘A to Menu’. Click ‘Save Menu’. Go to ‘Manage Locations’ (top of that page). Theme locations / top menu / select the menu that you’ve just created. Clic ‘Save Changes’
div.post, div.page, div.attachment {margin:0 3% 0 4%;}
where 3% is the left margin and 4% is the right margin. Or you can use px e.g. 20px
Thanks Richard. The margin editing worked fine.
However, the guidance on the menu didn’t do what I wanted it to do. If you recall from my post, I want to create a dropdown effect menu for the left hand sidebar menu. Following your instructions, actually put the drop down menu across the top of the site?
Any thoughts?
As ever many thanks for your help. I’m really getting to grips with your theme and apart from the css amendments which I’m gradually understanding – I’ve read a book!- the appearance editing side really is childishly simple!
My mistake, I misunderstood. I can only suggest http://wordpress.org/plugins/dropdown-menu-widget/ (haven’t tried) or this http://wordpress.org/plugins/jquery-vertical-accordion-menu/ (have tried, very nice, don’t know if it;s what you’re looking for)
Thanks Richard. The jquery version was great, I’ve used when I’ve been building sites in html. Didn’t realise that a lot of the stuff I’ve used on normal sites is available for WordPress – you live and learn
