Creating database/table in phpMyAdmin (6 posts)

    Hi there

    I have tried to install WordPress, but keep getting problems when trying to create the database. The WordPress guide is made for phpMyAdmin 2.6, but my host has phpMyAdmin 2.9.2 installed, which apparently is a bit different.

    I have tried using this guide;

    In step 2 I am told to create a database and a user, which should be possible using phpMyAdmin 2.6. I am able to create a new table/database, but then I am told to go to "Priviliges" to add a new user and so on. This "Priviliges" is nowhere to find.

    Any clues?

    I'm using Phpmyadmin 3.3.5 and I can;t see any major differences between that and 2.6.

    This "Priviliges" is nowhere to find.

    Click the Home icon and try looking across the tabs at the top.

    Could it be a modified version of phpMyAdmin that I have access to? It is a phpMyAdmin service that is offered within my webhotel.

    When I click home, I have no tabs at the top. I can click into the database I created, and then I have som tabs at the top (Structure, SQL, Search, Query, Export, Import, Operations), but no Priviliges.

    I have been through all these tabs a couple of times, but no Priviliges to be found.

    Contact your host about it. They will work for you. Don't mess things if you don't know much. Just contact them :)

    Hi webroel if your host has fantastico or something similar the process of installing wordpress is automated and it requires a few click and following instructions. If you don't have fantastico or something similar and you have cpanel there is an option on cpanel that allows you to create a database and assign it to a user.

    I hope this helps if you have more questions let us know.

    Kind regards

    hi,

    i have the same advice to ask your webhoster, it's the direct way. If necessary you then have to change webhoster.

    Greetings
