Creating child of "Home" on menu? (13 posts)

http://clydeholler.net/ Using a child of WordPress TwentyTen with "Home" as the static homepage. I created a page "About Me" and set it as a child of "Home" but the page appeared in the top menu. I tried making it a child of another page and it worked that way. Just won't work as a child of "Home"... any clues?

Your site doesn't appear to be using a child theme.

Am I doing it wrong? I have a folder called "twentyten-holler" with style.css in there plus some of the other files I've modified. Mods appear in the site. Everything else seems to work.

You need to actually activate your child theme.

It is activated. here's a screen grab of the Appearance > Themes.

Now I can see your active child theme. I'd suggest that you consider creating a custom menu.

Is there an issue with simply assigning a child to "Home" on the main menu?

I have to hand the site over to the owner for his own management, and need to keep things simple. is there an issue with simply assigning a child page to a page called "Home"?

That depends upon the theme and how its default menu is been configured within the theme's template files.

Theme is a child of Twentyten. I want to add a child to the "Home" menu item. When the site owner is in control of the site he needs to be able to add pages as desired. If it is not possible to add a child under "Home" using the Twentyten theme, I will address this with the site owner.

What happens when you use the unedited parent theme?

After activating the unedited twentyten theme, the page "About Me", designated as a child of "Home", is still in the top menu. http://clydeholler.net/

Even though the menu item "About Me" shows in the top menu, the URL in the address bar, http://clydeholler.net/home/about-me/, indicates that it is a child of "Home". I would like for "About Me" to actually be a child of "Home" in the drop-down.
