It is a wonderful plugin and I think should be a part of wordpress functionality.
What I wanted to understand is why you decided to distinguish edited image from original by adding -pte suffix. It creates an additional image.
I removed -pte from the suffix and now the new image replaces the original.
Didn't get any errors yet.

I totally agree. I was thinking that it would make it really easy for me to find all the images that I created by just doing a find command. However, I recently saw the light and I'm going to remove the "-pte" in the next version. (It's coming soon).
However, if your edited post thumbnail uses a different crop factor than the one that wordpress generates, it will still leave the old one there as well. So I'm asking you, would you think it's better to delete old images that shouldn't be needed anymore?

After editing ( creating a new thumbnail ) I don't have an option to switch between the images and I don't have the option to restore the original, thus it is a good idea to delete obsolete thumbnail.
WordPress cropping function has ratio and pixels fields to adjust the area, but can't delete old thumbnails.
Ideally ( IMHO ) plugin could complement original functionality by giving access to individual thumbnails and deleting old thumbnails, but using original cropper ( it is there already).
Saying that, I am really happy with the control I got over thumbnails creation.
