   I have a site running on WP in the root directory.

   I would like to create a sub-directory which is similar to the main index page, but with a slightly different template and featuring posts from only one category ID.

   Can somebody explain how I would go about doing this?

   Why not just use a Category Template for that?

   There's "currently no text" on the page you link to. Can you explain what a category template is and how I'd set one up?
