Creating a map that will showcase template posts from many users

So I am would appreciate some help strategizing the best way to do this.

I want to create a database of trips students have taken around the world. Ideally there would be a standardized template (say a google form) that users could fill in and geotag to a set location.

It would include:

1. Location:
2. Length of Trip:
3. Description:
4. Category: *which would need to be tags that were searchable (ex: volunteer, study abroad, etc.)
5. etc.

The trick is I need this to be really straightforward and easy to use or students won’t use it

I have an idea how to do this using the regular posts, but also want to have traditional blog style posts for my site as well. Can you create two streams of “posts” on a single site like this? Should I create a separate site and link them?
