Creating a Front page different from static page (2 posts)

    Greetings,

I am trying to figure out how to make a "splash page" that someone would see when they hit HOME on the site ... at the moment I have it set to Static and the selected page is the about me page ... but I don't wont that to be the page that is seen when someone hits the home button (i didn't create the home button it is a default as far as I can tell).

I have tried looking though the forum and the FAQ and what not have seen stuff that sounds like what I am looking for but in truth I haven't got a clue. I'm not a programmer and as fair as my PHP is for editing at times in this case it seems to be really lacking.

Can anyone point me in the direction I see or even post here what it is that I need to do in plain simple code/language, as in maybe a step by step way of doing it, would be most helpful to say the least.

The templates the theme I am using offers me are the following...
    404 Template (404.php)
    Comments (comments.php)
    Footer (footer.php)
    Header (header.php)
    Main Index Template (index.php)
    Page Template (page.php)
    Sidebar (sidebar.php)
    Single Post (single.php)
    Theme Functions (functions.php)
    frame-img.php (frame-img.php)
    list_comments.php (list_comments.php)
    main-nav.php (main-nav.php)
    showposts.php (showposts.php)

I am assuming that it is one of these files that I need to add or edit code for to do what I am looking for, but again I've not been able to figure out which it is (though it might have been the page template, but I can't see where I would edit it to change things around to what I am wishing/needing.)

    Take care!

Then set up and publish a new page. You may even want to create a custom page template.
