Creating a custom Gallery Page – Please Please! Help

I am trying to create a page for my theme that will include an image representing a link to their given albums … They will all be post of the same category (gallery – category id#3)

It should be really simple to create a gallery page like this that uses one photo for a given gallery to link to it’s post or lightbox script. i’ve posted this on the plugins hack forum and not a single person has offered help.

Hopefully someone will help me here; i thought wordpress was community oriented.
