    I am brand new to wordpress. From my readings it looks like creating a child theme is the best way to avoid losing your work in the event of an update. I have followed multiple tutorials on setting one up, but the blankslate-child still fails to appear in my dashboard>themes. I cannot understand what I am doing wrong, so Im hoping that I can get some help here because every tutorial uses the twentytwelve theme as an example. I am just not sure if I am using the right name for the theme because I get the error

    “This theme is broken. Template is missing.”

    /*
    Theme Name: BlankSlate Child
    Theme URI: http://localhost/vlsite/
    Description: Child theme for BlankSlate
    Author: Rem
    Author URI: http://localhost/vlsite/
    Template: blankslate
    Version: 4.0.1
    */

    @import url(“../blankslate/style.css”);
