• Hello, I am new to wordpress, but not to website design. I am in need of direction. I was able to find a great tutorial on blog.spoongraphics.co.uk for installing a custom theme. The thing is that I already have a full site built for a customer, but he now wants a blog page. How can I upload the prebuilt site and have a blog page that can be controlled through the admin panel? I have seen this done before, but I have not been able to figure out how. Any direction would be extremely helpful.

    Thanks,

    JB

  • Your best bet would probably be to install WordPress on a subdomain (e.g. blog.yourdomain.com). The most work will be to adapt your existing design to WordPress as a theme. The alternative is recreating the whole site in WordPress. Both options have pros and cons.
The biggest disadvantage of the subdomain solution is that you need to maintain 2 designs (long term problems) while the other option has the disadvantage that it is more work in the short term.
But perhaps others have a better solution I didn’t think of.
