With all the problems with the flash image uploader (there's a ton of support reaquests about it and mine is broken too), I'm wondering if there's any other way to use the [gallery] shortcode. Currently, to use the [gallery] shortcode you have to upload images into a post using the image uploader and then use the shortcode. This is fine if you can use the browser upload for one or two images, but if you have 50+ images you want to insert and have to use the browser image upload (because the flash version is broken) it becomes a real pain. I'm wondering if there's a way to upload images using FTP and then use the [gallery] shortcode for a lot of images at once?

Can I assume your image gallery uploads - or is supposed to - to a defined folder at your host? If so, just shoot your images to that folder via your ftp program and use standard html links to display them.
