I would really like to move my post categories from the sidebar on to their own separate page. Ideally, the page would list each category, and then the headlines of the first three posts for each.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I’m currently using the PopBlue (2 column) theme at http://www.postcollege.net

    Anyone? A little help 🙂 ?

i want- no, MUST do the same thing. i am new to this but familiar with php/mysql. it looks difficult because cats are databased and pages are probably files. that would be a major rewrite and updating would be really impossible UNLESS these changes are within the guidelines of plugins! (crossing my fingers) I also want to confine designated users to any single page. ie each ‘group of users’ (pagenamegroup) would have their own page and role-ality!

and as you dont really want to create system users, you want to simply create a file for that page one time which is relatively easy to do. i wont attempt this myself until a board pro can comment on the likelyhood of success for a plugin.

because cats are databased and pages are probably files.

    Don’t make assumptions.
    Read the documentation instead: Pages.

And no, what the OP wants is unrealistic. WP doesn’t work like that.

aha! design time! page manages categories. pages could be kind of a corrale for a group of posters of a variety of roles. confined to the page. i would have the page created by the owner and written to the drive as a file (shtml, php) with a plugin that ‘defines the page’. no brainer.

    page manages categories
    No, it doesn’t.

    confined to the page
You cannot limit access of users to one Page.

Sometimes it seems you are talking about something else, not WP. Do you have actually WordPress installed or are you just making up theories here?

i wasnt exactly asking. what i am saying is i am going to concept and design this so that it will work the way i want it to. think “CORRAL”. owner creates the corral, defines the limits, provides each corral(with the limitations) to each corral boss.

    then…

every corral boss can gather interested parties, subscribers and compete with other corrals! the domain owner would then be able to structure the face and linking on the main domain/. subject to the arrival links created by the corral bosses. only thing, none of the bosses can place code on their own.

the nice thing about such a design is that it allows for non-authors to become more involved without having to be crack site designers and coders.
