Create a new page via plugin

I want to create a new page when my plugin is installed. Beyond directly coding up an insert into the database, is there a default one that is used by WordPress?

I don’t have a problem coding up one of my own that will throw in the needed MySQL information to create a page. Just curious, as when WordPress creates functions for such stuff, I feel it’s better to use them.
