CRAZY – Homepage is a 404 Error – but only in Internet Explorer!

    Hi Guys…

    I’m an intermediate skilled WordPress guy. Our site, winslowbaptist.org, works perfectly on a Mac. Perfect on Chrome, etc. even on Windows computers. But here’s the thing:

    On Windows IE, it won’t work. The homepage yields a 404 error. BUT if you go to winslowbaptist.org/blog, it works fine. (our WordPress files are located in the folder named “blog”.)

    And it make it weirder. On my Windows box, if I uncheck “Show Friendly Errors” in the IE options area, the site works fine!

    And even weirder… If I activate the default WordPress theme (or any other theme) it works.

    So…

    Our current theme works perfectly, but not with Internet Explorer, and only when “Show Friendly Errors” is checked.

    Me and my friends can’t figure this one out at all. Nuking the site, fresh install, disabling plugins, etc. simply has no effect.

    Access logs show 404 89 errors when IE users go to HTTP 1.1 css/pie.htc

    Any ideas from anyone?

    Clear your browse cache and flush DNS also…if not that report back.

    Thanks for a quick reply, SwansonPhotos…

    Unfortunately, the site has always worked fine on my Mac. It’s the Windows IE users I’m worried about.

    When I check my Windows computer, it still shows a 404 error. I also use IE Netrenderer, which is a website that tests any website using various browsers.

    Their results still show that the site homepage won’t show up…

    Still stumped…

    I gave this advise as I am not experiencing this issue when I browser to your site – please ask those affected to use a modern browser…………………………………………………….

    Your home page works just fine in IE9.

    Site looks fine in IE7, 8 and 9 on a windows 7 platform.
