   Hello,

   At the present time my blog is using a wordpress 2.7 core, and I have a CPU consumption issue, I'm almost at the limits of the allowed CPU usage on my host, because of my current level of traffic.
   Should I move to a better hosting plan, that would cost me an additional 150$ per month, minimum, I really want to avoid that.

   In this regard, would you know if wordpress 2.8 will tend to cause more, as much, or less CPU usage, compared to wordpress 2.7 ?

   This is a crucial information for me, thanks a lot if you can help :)

   Well, here's a post (look at the bottom) indicating that 2.8 may use "much more memory" than 2.7. Don't know how much truth there is to that contention, but the author of the post is a respected plugin developer.

   He may not even be speaking of CPU usage, but I thought I'd post it in case it's an indication that 2.8 could use more CPU.

   To confirm, WP2.8 uses more CPU power than 2.7.1, but it's not much more. I have tested that today, and the increase is only 3-5%. Memory usage is a problem (increased 20-70% on some admin pages depending on active plugins), and I expect that they will fix that.

   Thank you veru much, GDragonN and Asechrest, for these two replies, I am grateful :)

   3-5% is still bearable, I double-checked my template and removed 8 avoidable database queries, adjusted a thing or two, I think it will more than compensate 3-5% additional charge.
   I'll still wait a bit before upgrading to 2.8, just in case additional fixes are released in the next weeks.

   WordPress version 2.8 uses MUCH more CPU and memory than 2.7, like 10x times in my experience, take a look at this chart, it will show you what happened when I "upgraded" to 2.8. I don't recommend 2.8, it's a bloated beast. Many people are reporting incredibly high load and cpu usage.

   Yes, same issue here. It's extremely slow loading, and caused me to take off my blog, because i couldn't be bother being CPU Throttled by my web service provider. Please fix this issue. I use 2.8.6. (or used!)
