Cpanel Hotlink Protection or my own code in .htaccess? (3 posts)

I have turned on cpanel's hotlink protection. Everything seems to be working right. But I see there are conversations on the web that say that this cpanel function can screw up "fancy URL's" among other things. Should I be worried? Should I instead just put my own code in htaccess?

And what exactly does cpanel does, just write the code into hatccess for you, or something internal?

it just adds the rules to your .htaccess
most folks don't have problems with it

slobizman.....thanks a lot brother for bringing in this topic. I didn't even know I could use the hotlink protection from my cPanel(I am a new webmaster).

can u pls tell me what actions can i take as a webmaster to punish ppl who continously copy/paste my content in their site? They are making me mad.
