Coupon applied but not visible in cart

I noticed that a lot of customers are confused when using the coupon I provided.
It clearly works, because they get the message that the coupon had been applied. BUT the price is not adjusted on the cart page.
If they click on and go to the checkout page they would see that their discount has indeed been deducted, but often they do not go beyond the cart page, thinking the coupon didn’t work.

I saw that when I try it, this is indeed what happens. BUT if you go to checkout page and then return to the cart page, the coupon discount is visible and the total order amount is correct calculated minus discount.

What can I do to fix this. It’s a silly but annoying issue.
