• 1)How do I set it so I can choose what posts go on my font page? As of now, even if I select a category for it, EVERY post appears on the front page.

2)How do I set the front page so the posts that DO show up are summaries only? I went to settings, and checked posts to show that way but on the front page it doesn’t, yet every other page summaries are there :/

3)I’ve messed with widgets, pages, everything and canNOT get rid of the Meta category (has admin, link to wpress, etc.) How do I?

  • Basically, the WordPress Codex has plenty of information on how to set things up. However, you could also search for free WordPress themes which are already coded to show up articles from certain categories. You can check out the codes and learn a lot from the Mimbo Theme by Darren Hoyt or Options theme by Justin Tadlock and so many more.
    Good luck.

1 – search the “Extend Plugins” section of this site for a Category Excluder plugin. There are several.

2 – Check the codex for the the_content vs. the_excerpt (or search these forums for those terms to find many links).

3 – The really depends on your theme. Is it widget enabled? Or do you just need to edit that bit out of the sidebar.php file?

    1 & 2 Thank you!

#3 – Yes it’s widget enabled. I tried locating in the .php section and can’t get rid of it that way either :/
