    is there any legal issues if a college would like to use the wordpress engine for it's website ?

    Your subject line and forum post content do not jive...but in either case, I know of none. And yours (college or corporation) would not be the first to make use of it.

    so there will be no legal implications if wordpress is used by a corporate website then ?

    good then, at least now i can get my former college to change it's website.

    Not when just using it, no.

    There are things you can do with WordPress that lead to legal problems, such as branding it ones own and redistributing under a different, non-GPL friendly license, but a company installing and blogging with it is looked upon as a good thing around here. Even when they're less than well liked. ;)

    but can a corporate website use wordpress as the engine for it's website's design ? as i'm trying to get my college to change it's html-based website to a WP-based website.

    Yes. That is what I meant by using it.

    You seem overly fearful about this. Rest assured there are many corporations and businesses and organizations using WordPress right now, for both public and intranet sites, and yet no OS lawyers are being sicced on them. ;)
