[resolved] Coraline Post Images - Resized/cropped... why?! (17 posts)

    Hi,

For some reason... when I add pictures to images they are cropped down in height on the image attachment page. This theme is lovely and simple and great but this one problem is really annoying and I can't locate any css or php that is dictating this...

    See:

Can anyone advise how to get these pictures to appear at the correct ratio? I would be very very grateful!

Is "Crop to exact dimensions" checked in Settings->Media?

Indeed it is checked. And unchecking it appears to make no difference...

    Any other ideas? :/

Unchecked and ran it but no changes...

    Arg!

Is it defined in the design of coraline somewhere? Thing is, I have seen other people using coraline and this doesn't seem to happen!

It's not the theme. From what I can see, the image is set to be only 180px high. Recheck your image dimensions in Settings->Media.

    Settings as so:

    Any ideas?

Thanks very much for your help by the way... I am stumped by the matter!

What is the original size of the image?

    800x533

You can click the link to the full sized image on the attachment page and it takes you to the full un-cropped image

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

If I switch to twenty eleven it works:

    So, it is coraline... somehow?

I wouldn't have thought so. The theme has pretty impressive credentials (it was created by the folks over at wordpress.com) but I've downloaded it and I'll have a look at it.

In the meantime, were you using another theme when you uploaded this image?

Nope - can't find anything in the image template that would cause this kind of problem. Have you edited any of the theme's template files at any time?

No, I haven't made any changes and I uploaded to coraline.

But wordpress is obviously editing the image I upload and creating a cropped thumbnail when using coraline:

    OK...

The plugin thing didn't help but I think I understand what is happening.

Each time I uploaded the old pictures with the same name and file size it was obviously not refreshing this attachment thumbnail... new images worked fine.

So, after slightly changing the image sizes and names, it now seems to work.

Basically, it wasn't refreshing these two images for some reason and that thumbnail plugin obviously didn't help even though it claimed to have resized images when I ran it.

    Problem solved anyway... for now!

Thanks for all your input esmi.
