‘Any changes made to WPP’s default stylesheet will be lost after every plugin update. In order to prevent this from happening, please copy the wpp.css file (located at wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/style) into your theme’s directory

This message appears in my plugin window? What does this actually mean and where can I find the wpp.css file. (I am an absolute noob at this, so help would be appreciated) Where can I find this them’s directoy and where and how do I copy it?

I don’t wont to be in situation where I update the plugin and all the counts on my blog posts are erased and start from scratch.

    Help would be appreciated,

    Thanks you,

    Kind regards,

    Filip

    Hi Filip!

I don’t wont to be in situation where I update the plugin and all the counts on my blog posts are erased and start from scratch.

    Don’t worry, that’s not it.

What does this actually mean and where can I find the wpp.css file. (I am an absolute noob at this, so help would be appreciated) Where can I find this them’s directoy and where and how do I copy it?

What the plugin is telling you is that you should move WPP’s stylesheet (wpp.css) into your theme’s folder. The reason is that if you have modified the wpp.css file to add custom CSS for your popular lists, these new styles will be lost after next plugin upgrade since that file will get overwritten automatically.

To copy the wpp.css file into your theme’s folder, follow these instructions:

    1. Connect to your site’s server using an FTP program (such as FileZilla). You’ll need proper credentials for this, of course. If you don’t have them please contact your hosting and ask them about it.
    2. Once connected, use the FTP program to navigate to wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/style and drag the wpp.css file into your computer’s desktop.
    3. Navigate to wp-content/themes/[your theme] and drag the wpp.css file from your desktop into this directory.

    That’s it!

If you haven’t modified this file, then please pay no attention to the message. It’s just a reminder for those who have customized the looks of the popular list to backup their modifications for future upgrades.
