Converting site to WP -- how to keep search engine rankings? (2 posts)

I'm converting a pure HTML site to WordPress. The site gets very good rankings for desired search engine phrases, and I think a big part of that is the domain name.

How can I keep everything status quo when I import to WordPress? Just keep the content the same and bring over the meta tags into All In One SEO?

I have converted an HTML site which was set up in 2002 with great Google ranking into WordPress 3.0.1 last year. I used this plugin along with changing the URL under Page title to index.html wherever required. I will say that it has worked out pretty well

I didn't have to use the SEO plugin as Google picked up on the new pages with same URL's pretty well.
