Hi everybody – I need some considered expert advice here.
Our WP blog was born before pretty permalinks were an option. Ours are the old http://www.mysite.com/?p=38 style. We have 1,000+ posts and Google page 1 weighting for a big bunch of search terms – many above the fold. So preserving our Google ranking is the top priority.
I know that could deploy a 301 redirect for them one by one. That’s the bottom line. But I really hope some guru has a better answer!
Thanks for your time.

Try this: http://www.deanlee.cn/?p=111
I guess it automates the 301 redirect, so you don't have to do it one by one.

Wow, hellomatt, that was an instant response!
Thank you very much.
The plugin looks really interesting and may solve my problem. I will investigate and try it if I am happy that it does the job.
I will report back.
Much appreciated.

Somebody who has done it previously (with very clear instructions) here
using this plugin
It looks like it is not the scary big deal that I thought it was.
