Conversion of membership database (5 posts)

I am brand new to WordPress and am seeking input from those of you with experience. I have an existing website that contains an optional membership component. Visitors to my website who choose to "join" my membership are given additional functions and features not variable to those who do not "join". I am going to be converting my entire website to WordPress and adding a blog to my site.

My question is should I convert my membership database into the WordPress database structure, and where would I go to find information on how to go about accomplishing that?

Thank you in advance for any insights that you might be able to provide.

  2. Is your current DB a custom built one?

Yes, it is unique to my application.

  4. Yeah, it's going to be ... complicated :)

    See http://codex.wordpress.org/Database_Description

The database is pretty weirdly complicated. Users are in wp_users, btu all the custom data is in wp_usermeta

Thank you. I have looked at the documentation that you suggested and do not believe it will be overly complicated to write a PHP MySQL program to convert my data.
