    For the slider that I’m using, I don’t want the links/images in the shortcode-generated gallery to be wrapped in two layers of HTML tags. I also don’t want the <br> tags that get inserted. Which WordPress file controls the generation of these galleries? I just want the the image urls to be output by the shortcode.

    But you can code your own version of the shortcode and remove the default one.

    Thanks for the reply. I’ve just ended up using custom fields for the galleries, ie the of number images in the post’s gallery and the shared filename-prefix for the images in said gallery.
