  • is it giving an error on send, or you’re just not receiving it?

Maybe check your junk mail settings?

I’m having the same problem as NRM2014. Using Contact Form 7, I get no error message on send, but the message never arrives at the GoDaddy hosted Office 365 Outlook webmail page. It’s not in the junk file, either.

Mail sent to the same address from links on the site arrive, but nothing gets through using Contact Form 7. The site is omahatownhall.org and both the “contact us” and the “waiting list” forms are affected.

Right now, both forms are set to send mail to home mailboxes, to which Contact Form 7 delivers perfectly. I’ve talked to techs at GoDaddy and they say the issue is beyond their expertise. Sigh.

Check the info on that link and see if it helps you figure out what’s going on.

I tried the additional headers route and it got me nowhere.

I’ll check with GoDaddy about support of PHP mail() in the morning. Anything beyond those two are probably above my ability to deal with. I can’t believe I’m the only one to have this problem.

    Still, thanks for the advice…..

I can't believe I'm the only one to have this problem.

You’re not the only one. If you search through the forums you will find many, many more.

@NRM1014 – It’s likely your email is probably being seen as spam somewhere in the email process. This is usually due to email headers (in particular the From email address used) or email content.

See Contact Form 7 Email Issues – this links to a much more comprehensive article which also covers emails being considered spam.

@mamajohn – Many people using GoDaddy report having to use SMTP to send emails from CF7.

@janet4now – I wrote the article you linked to, specifically to try to help the many people having email issues when using CF7. Since the plugin author linked to the article it appears to have reduced the number of email related questions we get in this forum.

But with now over 20 million downloads and people using CF7 on many different hosts it is inevitable that we get a few email related question every day.

Many thanks to all of you! It is a comfort to know help is at hand.

I called GoDaddy this morning and reached a tech named Seth. It took a while, but he was able to resolve the issue. I can’t remember exactly what he said, but the resolution had something to do with C-Net and opening a portal.

The long and short is, the issue had to do with the host and could be resolved by the host. Seth said he should have recognized the issue more quickly because they are seeing a lot of it.

For me, the magic key to getting help was asking the question, “Does our account support PHP mail?” I wouldn’t have known to ask that without the buzztone.com support article. It also helps to get the right support tech. Let’s hear it for Seth!

    I have the solution.

The problem is that cPanel’s MX Entry is set to Local Mail Exchanger by default. This means that if you set a web form in your website to use email@yourdomain.com and it’s the same as your website, the web server will attempt to handle the email itself (because it also hosts your site).

To solve the problem you can change the setting in cPanel to Remote Mail Exchanger in which case the web server will use the MX records to route the email.

This problem will occur with any host who uses cPanel including GoDaddy, HostGator, etc.

Thankx a lot @chemusic for Perfect! Solution.

chemusic you saved my life! I was going crazy on this! Thanks!!
