    This problem is causing harm not only to Contact Form 7’s forms. Check the search form at the upper right.

    To find out the cause, try deactivating other plugins, especially a plugin called “HIGHCHARTS”.

    Thanks very much for your help. I believe it probably is the HIGHCHARTS plugin – this requires that people complete a form which is numbers only. There must be something in this plugin overiding the other character based fields in the site.
