Contact Form 7 - Godaddy Hosting (7 posts)

    I've installed Contact Form 7 on a site that is hosted by Godaddy. The green successfully sent message would appear when I submitted a form but an email was never received by the owner of the site. I've done a lot of searching on forums to find a solution and the closest I got was to install wp-mail-smtp. this works some times but not all the time. Short of changing the host provider can someone suggest a way to get this to work or recommend an alternative way to get a contact form on the site. I'm not hugely technical so the less complicated the solution the better. Thanks.

    I'm having this problem on a site that is using WordPress 3.2.1 and one on version 3.1.3

    I am having the exact same issue for a client who hosts with GoDaddy. Each time the form says it was sent successfully. I received one test out of 6 sent and it seems like there is a delay of about 40 minutes before the message is sent. I am trying to have it sent offline to a GMAIL account and my own personal email address on my own server. I tried to activate and deactivate the form but that did nothing. I have updated my site completely. I am using WordPress 3.2.1. According to my client the form worked with the older version of WordPress and stopped working after we upgraded.

    You really need to speak to GoDaddy about this. In my experience, mail handling seems to vary wildly from server to server at GoDaddy. Some servers reject all mail. Other happily work without any problem. So it seems to boil down to the configuration of your particular server.

    @ginhut - here's a solution I found, hopefully it will help you.

    @esmi - I've raised a support ticket with Godaddy and searched their forums and so far whilst others are experiencing a similar problem godaddy is not forthcoming with much help. The response to my support ticket was to use the PHP form mails provided with the hosting account. Do you know how the server should be configured?

    Back to my original question as I'm reluctant to use contact form 7, at the moment its working some of the time - if you have any suggestions re alternative contact forms please let me know.

    Not specifically, no. The last time I got involved in trying to sort this out for another group of users, we managed to get down as far as the smtp server. It seems that smtp on some GoDaddy servers is configured to reject anything that doesn't come via their own PHP form mail. On these servers, no form plugin is going to work. :-(

    Thanks Esmi for your replies. I'll be considering different hosting providers for future sties. :)

    I tried talking to GoDaddy but they simply state that it is not a mail issue. I don't want to have to use a custom for unless I have to as it would require a lot of extra work and my client can't update the form. I am sad because I usually recommend this hosting for my clients and now will have to start looking for someone else. Thanks for at least trying to open a ticket Margonline.

    I tried that fix and it doesn't seem to work.
