Considering using WordPress for unpublished fiction archive (8 posts)

Hi! I have just built a new website using eFiction. I have run into several issues in setting up the site the way I would like it to work. Someone suggested that I look at wordpress, so I am.

    My questions are:

Will I need to design a database, if so does WordPress (not the staff but the tools) help with that?

If anyone has any knowledge of eFiction, can you tell me if it is difficult going from that to WordPress?

I know some xhtml and css and am taking tutorials on both, but I know nothing about php. Is that going to be an issue?

Has anyone else used WordPress to create a fanfiction/unpublished fiction website?

    My current website is:

    rabidreader.com

you will have to set up a MySQL database in your host's control panel - wordpress does not assist with this

Not unless you want to modify files for some reason. Most folks just use it "out of the box".

all of these seem to be the type of site you speak of

I looked at your site and I think you can easily find a theme/template that is very similar - here are some to look at

    Thanks!

I will have to look into database design. The last time I did any database stuff was about 15 years ago.

I'll take a look at the links and try to make a decision.

I will have to look into database design.

really nothing to design - just set it up with a few clicks, then wordpress populates it with tables for use

I'm being a pest, I know. But I do have one more question. If I install WordPress, just to see how it works and such, is this going to affect my current website? I don't want to disrupt that while I check out WordPress.

just install wordpress in a test folder like
    http://example.com/test
then get it how you want it and are familiar with it - then you can easily move it to the root if desired

The bigger the pest you are the more money I make :>)
