I've had WordPress on my site since last December and I'm really happy with it. But my dashboard keeps telling me there's a new version available (2.8.4) and that I should upgrade now.
If I do that, is it a headache? Will it hose the plug-ins I've installed? Will I lose any content?
It would help if you mentioned what version of WordPress you're currently using.
You shouldn't lose content (although you should always make a full backup before upgrading) but you may find that some plugins will no longer work. Remember to deactivate all plugins before upgrading and then reactivate them one by one - checking both the site and the Admin area thoroughly after each re-activation.
