I’m seeing a conflict between both the WPMUdev Subscribe by Email plugin and the WYSIJA plugin (http://wordpress.org/plugins/wysija-newsletters/) and this one. With either one activated to provide an email blast functionality when a post is published, two emails are fired: one with a link to the actual blog, and one email containing a link to the tags blog.

The Subscribe plugin is not Network Activated, and is not activated on the tags site at all. Something must be getting muddled when the site publishes the post, and attempts to replicate it on the tags site, while triggering an email simultaneously.

I’ve posted this in the WYSIJA forum, and in WPMUDev in their forum, but given that both plugins do the same thing, and exhibit the same behaviour in connection with this plugin, I wondered if you might have insight into what I could do to fix this.

I recognize that Jetpack also offers this functionality, but on a Multisite in a K12 blog, students are not legally allowed to sign up for a wp.com account to gain access to this functionality.

Sorry, I haven’t used any of the 3 plugins with that functionality.

i’m having a double email problem as well.

i’m using Subscribe2, activated only on the tag blog. whenever someone posts and that post is added to the tag blog, one email is supposed to go out … except i’m getting two emails, seemingly identical.

i just checked the links after reading mrjarbenne’s comment. same thing, one email has links tied to the original blog where the post was made; the other email has links tied to the tag blog.

obviously, i’d like to be able to stop the email with the links to the tag blog …

EDIT: also using P2 (which could be the culprit perhaps)

It does sound like a different issue, although I also had the issue with the Subscribe2 plugin, I have NOT had any of the subscription plugins active on the tags blog. My issue originates on the subdomain blogs (regardless of theme).

For Subscribe2 see this post: http://wpmututorials.com/plugins/unhook-while-switched/.

That’s based on Subscribe2 3 years ago so you may need to compare with the current version.

Thanks for that. It put on on the right track. Ended up creating a small plugin that solved the issue for us by ensuring the tags blog didn’t send out any email. This won’t help anyone who wants the tags blog to be the sender, as in @careb’s case:

I’m considering my issue resolved, and marking this conversation as such. As per @esmi’s response, @careb, you may want to consider creating an additional thread if @ron Rennick’s response doesn’t meet your needs.

    Cheers all.
