[resolved] Conflict with Jetpack (13 posts)

(I posted this on the old forum, but after reading that you are folding that into this area, I am posting here as well. Sorry for the redundancy.)

I upgraded to the latest version of JetPack and WordFence stopped working. I cannot see anything in Live Traffic. But the moment I deactivate JetPack in a different window the Live Traffic snaps to the screen with its output. I can replicate this reliably.

    WordFence version 4.0.1
    JetPack version 2.8

I have most of JP features not activated, I use a select few and can list them if you like.

I have identified the JetPack module that is interfering with WordFence. It is “Publicize”, when it is deactivated WordFence instantly starts working. When I activate it again WordFence stops working.

I have also reported this to JetPack support.

Thanks, I'm trying to reproduce this. Can you tell me how you've configured publicize? I have it running on my own site without a problem alongside WF. Which services have you connected to?

Also can you post a screenshot of what you see when Live Traffic is not working.

    Thanks.

I have minimal publicize connections, one thing that may be worth noting is that facebook is not included.

    Please point your browser to:
    https://copy.com/0ENMKEuDnCDYsowR

You will see two JetPack screen captures and four Wordfence. The time of screen capture is embedded in Wordfence which should give you an idea about the time of capture. The last one in that group is immediately after disabling Publicize, which shows what it is supposed to.

Let me know if I can provide more information.

Thanks. Can you please check your browser's javascript error console. In chrome on mac you would go to view > developer > javascript console.

Please do this when you're on the live traffic page and it's not loading. Let me know what the error is.

Alternatively you can create a temporary admin account and mail it to mark at wordfence.com and let me know here (or with a followup email) which domain it's coming from . And I'll investigate.

    Thanks.

This is what I see, but if you like I'll be glad to create an admin account for you. Let me know. As you see, the same line keeps repeating.

OK thanks, that's just Wordfence making ajax calls to update it's status.

Yes please create the admin account and I'll take a look. Email it to mark at wordfence.

Hi Mark, I'm facing a similar issue for the last two weeks, the moment i installed Wordfence in my WP, both Jetpack (stats) and Google Analytics stopped working and i still don't know what to do.

Can you please help on it?

    Hi acekin,

I've created a ticket for you in our priority support system to try and get this resolved (even though you're a free customer). You should have received an update via email. Let me know if you haven't.

Abdul: Please start a separate thread.

    Regards,

    Mark
PS: If you found this helpful, please rate Wordfence 5 stars.

To close the loop I am reporting the solution to this problem. Mark checked my installation and found that the memory limit was too low at 64MB and recommended that I increased it to 128MB. A check with my ISP and instructions they provided lead me to add the following lines (one being a comment to remind to myself) into the wp-config.php file:

/** Change memory limit by AC Ekin */
    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M');

Both plugins coexist happily now with no conflict.

Thank you Mark for your assistance. I have also reported this to Jetpack team.

You're very welcome. You're the first non Premium customer that I've added into our premium support system and it worked great. I wanted to test this because from time to time we get bugs from our free community that are important and our premium ticketing system keeps track of things and makes sure they get done a lot better than random emails or forum posts.

So thanks for participating in my little test!!!

Glad to hear it's working for you.

    Regards,

    Mark.
