    Hi,

    I’m using Polylang 1.2.3 and Attachments 3.5.3.

Attachments are getting overridden when adding a new post translation.

    1. Add new English post
    2. Update post attaching some image
    3. Add Spanish version of the post
    4. Update the Spanish version attaching a different image

Now both posts contains the attachment of the Spanish version. The English version lost its attachment.

I’m not sure if this corresponds to Polylang or Attachments.

Just an idea. Try de-activating custom fields synchronization in Polylang settings.

    Great! That solved my problem.

Thanks a lot for your time.

Sync Custom Fields is a cool feature because it saves you time from repeating the processes of setting common fields on different translations of the same post. But I think it has a small problem.

    * 2 languages, English and Spanish
    * And a custom field “color”
    * Create a post in English with color “red”
    * Create the Spanish translation (by clicking “Add new” or the “+” icon)
    * Save the Spanish version without setting any color

Now both versions of the post contains no color set. What I think the user might really expect is to have both versions set to “red”. Note that I didn’t run this exactly test, in my case I was using the Attachments plugin for the custom field.

My suggestion is that when a user starts creating a translation from a post that already exists, get Polylang to load the custom fields values from the existing post and use them as default values for the new translation. Without this feature, the user will need to create both translations first and just then set the settings for the common fields.

What you expect is exactly what Polylang does. However some plugins remove or overwrite the values Polylang has prefilled. I can’t fight against this.
