Confirm link does not show confirmation message

    Hi, currently when I receive a confirmation message, as I click the confirmation link, I get redirected to: comment-subscriptions?sre=john%40gmail.com&srk=bc6305a558792e3bf91abd03a3a8fc7b&srp=3238&sra=c
    I have the custom subscribe.php page as your FAQ shows.
    The page only has the following content, and I can’t activate my subscription:

    ☑ Notify me of followup comments via e-mail. You can also subscribe without commenting.
    You can manage the subscriptions of this post.

    Also note that ☑ checkbox is not inside any <form> element so it can’t function properly anyways.

    I am using a custom theme, which has a custom comments.php and also has a custom_comment_form() in the functions.php. Would this make any difference?

    Yes, your custom theme could be the reason why this is happening. The checkbox is usually part of the comment <form> block. You may want to switch to TwentyEleven (default WP theme) and see if it works there. If it does, then it’s definitely your theme. Contact those who developed it for you and ask them to help you fix it.

    I removed custom forms but it does not make a difference.

    I also tried a fresh build of WP. It works fine, except that the when the opt-in option is checked, people are still activated automatically without receiving the opt-in email.
