config.txt hacked-how to resolve (3 posts)

    Hello,

My config.txt has been hacked and my passwords changed. I have managed to get access to my site via my hosts control panel (PHP my admin) so I am back into my site but when I open my config.txt file it says.. hacked by and then the hackers name.

Also if I go onto my site and type its address (ie http://www.abc.com/config.txt) it displays the same notice.

The file is/ has been made into a a public file public_html/config.txt

I'm relatively new to this and its a steep learning curve to forgive me for very obvious questions, I'm guessing the config.txt file shouldnt be public, what do you rename it to and also how can I reolve this problem and prevent it happening in the future.

    Cheers,

    Joseph
