Hi, I would be happy for any tips on how to accomplish this:
We're starting a community blog. We want registered users to post entries straight from the front side. This includes uploading pictures from the hard drive to go with the blog post.
We also like to give new members a "trial status" where the blog posts are pending until approval by administrator.
Their status could then be changed to "approved writer" whenever suitable.
Could this be done easily? If so, what tweaking is needed?
All the best/ Jocke

I've done what you want with the Limit Categories plugin. http://www.redalt.com/downloads/ You need to make a cat called something like 'pending' and only allow certain roles the privilege to post to only that category. Then make the pending category invisible throughout the site, you will need to modify your theme to do this. If done right you can have a direct url that you you can use to check the pending posts and approve them. This plugin might help with the excluding categories http://www.semiologic.com/software/opt-in-front/
BTW there's lots of information on this forum about how to do what you want and lots of different ways to do it. You just need to try doing some searching with different keywords, that how I originally found out how to do what I wanted.

Thanks for helping out. But your solution still means visitors accessing the "back end" write page to do this? That's cool and I'll probably try that, but I'd prefer a solution in which a stripped (basic, fool proof) editor appear in the site's "front end".
But I'll do as you suggest: keep searching this site.
Thanks again!
There's quick post. http://cjbehm.dyndns.org/wingingit/quick-post/
But it doesn't like 2.1 at the moment and people would still need to register to post on your site.
