   Hi all,

   My comments seem to be getting out of hand sometimes, and I wish to make them ALL pend for moderation before appearing.

   This might be an easy question, but I've read before that the comment moderation feature in WP does not work 100%. Also, from what I've tried, its true that many of the comments just appear without my permission!

   How do I force ALL the legit comments to go into moderation, and for the spammy ones to go straight to the spam box?

   I've not encountered that. Go to Options>Discussions and look for,

   Before a comment appears:

   • An administrator must always approve the comment
   • Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
   • Comment author must have a previously approved comment

   Select whatever combination you wish. I think it is self-explanatory. There are also several excellent spam filter plugins such as Akismet and SpamKarma.

   I never implemented this, is it a must in order for the comments to be auto-queued for moderation?

   I've checked the other 2 options, but it didn't stop every comment from being moderated, only some...and the rest get caught by Akismet and Spam Karma.

   P.S: Some comments are aimed sarcastic, snide remarks, and that's why I don't want them appearing, lol.

   That option will hold a comment for moderation unless the person leaving the comment has had at least one comment accepted by you.

   Personally I go with "An administrator must always approve the comment" but I have no idea why it doesn't work for you.

   but all this while, I just let it ride. Lately, the comments need to be moderated, and that's when the problem arises again.

   I know I check all the boxes I should check, but...doesn't work.

   In that case above, she used Spam Karma and forced every comment into moderation; I thought my WP should be capable of this without an external plugin...;/

   Puzzled.
