    I installed the qwilm theme a little while ago, and since I installed it, comments don't work properly. The comment form will appear and can be used once, and then they disappear. [For an example of what I'm talking about look here.]

    Any suggestions as to what might've gone wrong? I don't know enough php to figure it out, and other postings I've found on the qwilm theme haven't been helpful.

    Thanks.

    something is wrong in your comment loop. can you post the code from your main template file and from the comments file.

    as an aside, for posting big chunks of code please consider using a pastebin service like http://wordpress.pastebin.ca and just posting a link to it here.

    this is page.php:

    http://wordpress.pastebin.ca/251174

    this is the list of files from the theme editor page:

    'Qwilm!' theme files

    * Stylesheet
    * 404 Template
    * Comments
    * Footer
    * functions.php
    * Header
    * Main Index Template
    * Page Template
    * searchform.php
    * Sidebar
    * Single Post

    let me know if i need to post any of these to resolve this problem. thanks so much!

    Single Post should be the "single.php".

    Well, the call for the comments template is there - so it should work.
    What happens if you switch to another theme, like default or classic? Does the error persist?

    it doesn't. it's peculiar to this one. i'd had no problem in the past. is there anything else it could be?

    could it be responding strangely to akismet?

    Hmm. Did you do anything special (=new plugin, modify code) in between? Did your host, eventually, change/upgrade something on their end?

    nope, which is all the more frustrating. i've deactivated my plug-ins to no avail. what might've the host done that i could investigate?

    and i've tried all sorts of things from the admin pages to make sure that i hadn't closed comments or anything. i don't know if other folks have had similar problems with Qwilm, but my searches on the support forums, as well as the theme itself were fruitless.

    is it just me or is there an extra ) near the end of line 40 on the main template file?

    i just tried removing that parens and, zoinks, my blog disappeared. i'm going to try to tinker, but if anyone sees something fishy, let me know.

    how would this fix fit in? this is from the qwilm theme page itself, but since i don't know anything about php i'm hesitant to experiment.

    could this problem be corrected by installing a comments plug-in? if so, which one would you recommend?

    What is the code you posted to pastebin? That's the whole comments.php file's code?

    that most recent comments.php posting is incomplete. i didn't understand it myself. i found it here at themes.wordpress.org: http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/3-columns/61/qwilm-03/

    It is as useless as any code posted here... without using the backticks.
    Beside asking the author to fix his/her theme, here is what you can do.
    Rename the comments.php in the theme folder to something else.
    WP is supposed to use the same file from the default theme.
    (If it doesn't, copy over the file from the default folder to yours)
    If the comments display OK, you can adapt the file to your theme.

    AMAZING! Thanks! I would say it was as easy as 1, 2, 3 but all I typed was 1 into my comments.php title. Totally worked.
