• I’m working on a site that my client’s previous developer built. The comment form on posts is not showing at all with the current theme (custom made by the other developer), however it does work when the theme Twenty-Eleven is activated instead. On my localhost, I found that if I added “<?php comments_template(); ?>” to the theme’s index.php the comment form would show up just fine. But updating the file on the live site did not change anything.

    Any ideas?

-try switching to the unedited default theme (Twenty Eleven) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder via FTP in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

Sorry, I’m not following. I was able to switch to Twenty Eleven using the WP dashboard. Why would I rename the folder?

does it work – does it show the comment form?

sometime people do not have access to admin. But you have already switched it. So you don’t need to rename it via FTP.

Yes the comment form is visible when Twenty-Eleven is activated on the live site.

This means your other theme is broken. And yo need to fix it if you want to use it.

The theme works on localhost though. Any idea for how to make it work on the live site?

    -which theme is it?

-Have you discussed it with your hosting povider?

The theme is custom-made by the previous developer.
    I’ll try contacting the host…

The theme is custom-made by the previous developer.

    Also, contact the theme developer.
