[resolved] Comments form available only to Authors? (2 posts)

I am trying to make it so that only authors I've designated can make comments. I have restricted user registration (deselected 'anyone can register'), and have limited posting comments to logged-in users. However, the comment form still appears on the post pages.

I would like to completely hide the comment submit form from visitors, or delete it from the theme and have authors post comments within the admin panel. I tried the comments hack by Jamison & Michael, but it didn't work for me (the form was still visible, only disabled, and it didn't recognized me as logged in).

Is there a way for authors to make comments other than through post pages? If not, can the comments form be hidden from non-authors? Thanks.

I figured something out by copying from the Kubrick theme. Put <?php if ( $user_ID ) : ?> before the part you want hidden from visitors, and <?php endif; ?> after.
