I am exporting a WordPress.com blog over to a WordPress.org install.
Everything works great when I export/import except that I can't seem to get all the avatars from the wordpress.com comments to show up in the wordpress.org comments. Only those with gravatars show, but not ones that (seemingly) used a twitter or facebook login to post their comments.
Any insite would be greatly appreciated.
WordPress.org doesn't natively support Twitter or Facebook logins, and hence, avatars, like WordPress.com does. Only Gravatars.
You can find some alternate ways to allow people to log in via Facebook or Twitter on your new site via plug-ins, but I don't know about importing old comments - perhaps someone else will chime in with a solution.
