When someone clicks to make a comment or a link on my blog to an older post, they are taken to a feed page:
http://thesparkleinhereye.com/http:/thesparkleinhereye.com/wp-rss2.php/feed
instead of the intended location on my blog. Can someone help?

Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting via Settings -> Permalinks. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

I just tried resetting to default and it sent me to a 404 hostgator page. I also tried one of the other suggested formats and it sends me to another type of 'page not found"
What urls are entered in Settings -> General?

Here are the choices in the settings menu
Default http://thesparkleinhereye.com/?p=123
Day and name http://thesparkleinhereye.com/2011/11/15/sample-post/
Month and name http://thesparkleinhereye.com/2011/11/sample-post/
Numeric http://thesparkleinhereye.com/archives/123
The default urls work for me: http://thesparkleinhereye.com/?p=46
