    Hello everyone;

    I have the newest wordpress release, and I am having a problem with it. I have it set to accept trackback notices, but NOT comments. well I still have a bunch of comments, and they are mostly spam, which I deleted. Mostly from blogpost.com sites or this place called point here or something. Has anyone else encountered this? Chad

    Oh, yes. Spammer tools avoid the normal methods of commenting (that is, visiting posts and filling in forms). They directly access those scripts or program components which handle comment submission. In the case of WordPress this is wp-comments-post.php, found in your blog's root directory.

    You can safely delete this file from your setup, however if you follow the directions for closing comments here:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Working_with_WordPress#How_do_I_disable_comments.3F

    you should not need to remove it.
